Everett J. O'Brien, 84 of New Bedford died September 22, 2003 at The Oaks Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Gail A. (Russell) O'Brien and son of the late Joseph and Henrietta (Wallace) O'Brien.
Mr. O'Brien was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. James Church.
Mr. O'Brien was the proprietor of Worthington's Bakery for many years until his retirement. He later worked for the City of New Bedford Traffic Division, at the Kerwin Garage and Elm Street Garage.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II , and was a recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jonathan O'Brien of Broad Brook, Conn.; a brother, Joseph O'Brien of New Bedford; a godchild, Margaret Mary Cabral of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Leonard O'Brien, Harold O'Brien, Francis O'Brien, Kathleen Mitchell and Margaret Donlan.
