Funeral services for Mr. Ray W. Kennedy, 66, of Ashburn, GA will be held Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Turner Co. Mr. Kennedy passed away Thursday at Tift Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
A native of Crisp Co., he was the son of the late J. L. Kennedy and Milton L. and Edna Watson Kennedy Ward. Mr. Kennedy has lived his entire life in Turner Co. and was a member of The Oak Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to the mountains, being with family and fishing. Mr. Kennedy retired after 32 years with the Georgia Dept. of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Clower Kennedy, Ashburn, GA.; his sons Richard Kennedy and his wife Melody, David Kennedy and his fiancé Machelle Hall all of Tifton, GA; his daughters Melissa Kennedy, Helena, GA and Rhonda Self and her husband Tony of Sycamore, GA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cody Smith, Helena, GA, Masy Rae Kennedy, Zachary Kennedy both of Tifton, GA, Miranda Hamilton, Savannah, GA, Jonathan Rathburn, Sycamore, GA, Eve Rathburn, Ashburn, GA and Nicole Rathburn, Savannah, GA. Also surviving is his sister and brother in law, Linda and Buck Morgan, Ashburn, GA and a special niece Tonya Barbee, Ashburn, GA.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
