Irene (Mendonca) Oliveira, age 89 of Fall River, passed away January 19, 2010. Born in Fall River, she was the widow of George Oliveira and was daughter of the late Manuel and Caroline (Estrella) Mendonca. She was a member of the former St. Louis Church, now St. Mary Cathedral, and a member of St. Louis Women’s Guild. She was a retired seamstress in the local needle industry.
She is survived by 1 daughter Patricia A. Donlin of Fall River; 2 siblings: Edward Mendonca of Fall River and Laura Ladonne of FL; 3 grandchildren: Thomas Teal Rua & wife Sharon, Jennifer Green, Mandi Lee Houle and husband William; 4 great grandchildren: Alexander George Green, Emily Helene Green, Brianna Irene Houle and Tyler Houle and several nieces & nephews. She was sister of the late John, Joseph & Angelo Mendonca, Mary Souza and Alexandrina Santos.
Her PRIVATE funeral for family members will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Friday at 9:00AM. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Cathedral at 10:00 AM. Calling hours are omitted. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery.
