Obituary

Lawrence, MA- Daniel G. O’Carroll,89, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, died peacefully Saturday, January 16th, 2010, at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by those he loved.
Born and educated in Lawrence, Daniel was the son of Nicholas and Mary (O’Niel) O’Carroll. In 1941 Daniel was drafted into the Army where he served his country honorably during WWII.
For more than 30 years Mr. O’Carroll worked as a salesman for Kap’s and then Gentry’s clothing store for Men on Essex St., in Lawrence. For 29 years he worked for Western Electric/ AT&T and then Lucent in North Andover until his retirement.
Daniel was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence. He was a lover of music, especially of Irish music. In his younger years he could be found walking throughout the City of Lawrence. He loved his family and he also loved his German Shepherds. Besides caring for his dogs, one of Daniels biggest passions was taking care of his beloved in-ground-pool. He would clean and take care of it so well that his family swore it would sparkle. He was a very out-going man who enjoyed socializing and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. O’Carroll will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Wooles) O’Carroll, sons, William D. and his wife Kelly of Dover, NH, Daniel N. “Doc” and his wife Carla of Methuen, one sister, Anna Marie Cain of Lawrence, three grandchildren, Amy and her husband Christopher Zani of Fitchburg, MA and Ryann and Kalleigh O’Carroll of Methuen. He is also survived by three nieces, Barbie and her husband William Bateman of Haverhill, Patricia Hanson of Lawrence and Susan McKinney of Haverhill.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St., in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, January 21st at 11AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
