GLOUCESTER: Barbara L. (Hooper) Olson, 82, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Golden Living Center. She was the wife of the late Lester F. Olson who died in 2005.
Born in Gloucester on September 12, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Graham and Grace E. (Sanders) Hooper. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester.
Barbara enjoyed sewing and gardening, but her greatest joy was being a show dog breeder of cocker spaniels. She was also a member of the Cape Ann Bible Church.
She is survived by her son, Wain Olson and his wife, Elizabeth Ciolino of Gloucester and a niece, Doreen Spinola and her husband, Mike of Gloucester. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Pelletier.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Lanesville at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
