Obituary

Margery (Abrams) Wagner, 90, formerly of Governor's Circle, passed away Friday at Fairview in Groton.

Mrs. Wagner was born in New Haven on Oct. 8, 1919, the daughter of Paul E. and Margaret (Bartholomew) Abrams.

She was married Sept. 7, 1946, in Hartford, to Virl Reeves Wagner, who died Feb. 13, 1985.

A longtime active member of the Groton Senior Center, she served in many capacities including historian, chaplain, member of the center's "Swinging Stars" dance group, and plant tender/gardener since 1980. She was also an avid embroider, served as former vice president and chaplain of the Fleet Reserve Assn. #20 Ladies Auxilliary, and was a charter member of the Mystic River Historical Society. She was a communicant of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, a member of St. Mary's Guild, and a member of St. Mary Frances Circle, Daughters of Isabella #796.

She was a former member of the Sub Vets of World War II, Groton Democratic Town Committee, Friends of the Mystic-Noank Library, Retired Armed Forces Assn., VFW Auxilliary of Mystic, Connecticut Society of Genealogists, and Connecticut Federation of Democratic Women.

Mrs. Wagner is survived by her sons, John P. Wagner of Noank and Mark A. Wagner of North Stonington; four grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Borkowski of Wallingford.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Charlotte Pinsky, Paul Abrams, and Robert Abrams.

Her family will greet relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic. Services are private.
