Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10am. Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Church at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm.
Obituary Information
Michael S. Metta, Sr. died Saturday at the Goddard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Stoughton, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Nicolas and Maria (DeFelice) Metta. He was the husband of the late Ethel T. (Cerce) Metta. He attended Brockton schools and had been employed as a model maker machinist at Northrop Corporation in Norwood MA until his retirement. During his retirement he worked at the West Side Shaws in Brockton. He was a lifetime member of the Samoset Club, Plymouth County League of Sportsmen, and the Ames Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is survived by three sons, Nicholas Metta of Peabody, Frank Metta of Middleboro, Michael Metta Jr. of Brockton, two daughters Judith McMahon of East Bridgewater and MaryAnn Manning of Salem, NH, two brothers William Metta of Norwood and Sabino Metta of Florida, six sisters his twin sister Marie Shumway of Brockton, Helen Cappiello of Brockton, Jennie Metta of Abington, Josephine Jackson of Brockton, Lucy Cerro of Brockton, and Fontaine Metta of Brockton, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
