Alexander “AJ” Witunski of Canton, retired General Manager at Spaulding Inc., died January 12, 2010. He was the husband of Stella (Filipowicz) Witunski, married 57 years.
Born in Boston, MA, son of the late Michael Witunski and Veronica (Jotka) Witunski, he lived in the area his entire life but traveled extensively in the military. He is a veteran of the European and Pacific theater in World War II, earning a Purple Heart at the Battle of Bulge in 1944. He was a part of the Military Government of Japan after WWII. After the war he graduated from Boston University.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Michael Witunski of Canton, MA, Mark Witunski of Richfield, OH; two daughters, Lorraine Witunski of Boston, MA and Linda Witunski of Canton, MA and five grandchildren: Alexandra Witunski, Kirsten Witunski, M.Maxwell Witunski, Eric Witunski, and Kyle Witunski.
Calling Hours will be Thursday 4-8 pm in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton. A funeral Mass to be held at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton, Friday morning at 10:30. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations in AJ’s memory may be sent to Canton Veterans Services 801 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
