Obituary

WORCESTER-Edward “Mr. Ed” E. Van Vleck, 71, of Worcester, died Thursday January 17th, in his home. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Shirley A. (Andrews) Van Vleck; 3 sons E. Victor Van Vleck of Rutland, Randy Van Vleck of Lancaster, MA and Rod Leehy of Gilbertville; 3 daughters, Brenda A. Ennis of Oxford, Shirley A. Baker of Worcester and Robyn Van Vleck of Clinton; 2 brothers, Lawrence Cushman of Leominster and Bertil Cushman of Jefferson, NH; a sister Carol Pratt of Sterling; nine grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. A brother Richard Van Vleck died in 1981 and a sister, Carlene Hopson died in 1998.

He was born in Littleton, NH the son of Richard B. and Gertrude H. (Cushman) Van Vleck. Mr. Van Vleck worked as a project engineer for Savin Engineering Co. in New York for many years. He served in the Army Air Corps during the Korean War.

The funeral will be held Saturday, January 19th, with a service at 11:00 AM in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home 592 Park Avenue. There are no calling hours. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Visiting Nurses Association 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or UMass Memorial Hospice 43 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
