Obituary

WORCESTER-Violet O. (Gallant) Fiore, 80, of Worcester, died Monday, January 11th in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia A. Fiore of Whitinsville and Denise M. Miller of Worcester; a brother, Ralph E. Gallant of Auburn; her sister Shirley M. Fiore; two grandsons, Kenneth C. Haddad and his wife Alizabeth of New York City and Christopher M. Haddad of Seattle; and many nephews and nieces. Her former husband, Francis R. “Rocco” Fiore, a brother Robert F. Gallant and a sister Pauline E. Cardwell predeceased her.
She was born in Millbury, the daughter of Edward M. and Lillian G. (Fontine) Gallant; and attended David Hale Fanning Trade School. Mrs. Fiore had been employed by Wright Machine Company for 30 years, as chief inspector, retiring in 1986. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, and had been a volunteer with Worcester Elder Services for fourteen years as a senior companion and had been the recipient of several awards for her service.
Violet’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital, especially the CCU and Third Floor North for the care, compassion and kindness extended to her.
The funeral is Thursday, January 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 13th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
