Obituary

Patricia A. Whitney, 72, of Derry, NH, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 peacefully with family by her side at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Mrs. Whitney was born at home on Valley Street in Derry, NH on April 25, 1937, daughter of the late William and Martha (Gile) Gendron. She was a life long resident of Derry and a proud graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1955. She was very active with the Pinkerton Alumnus Association and was the class correspondent for the Pinkerton Academy Alumnus. Mrs. Whitney was known to many of the elementary schools as "the lunch lady" while she worked at Grinnell School for 10 years. She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word games and playing scrabble with her husband, Ken and winning!! She was a wonderful mom to her four children and to many of the kids in the neighborhood. She touched and impacted the lives of so many people. Her most important job was being Mom and Gram. HER FAMILY WAS HER LIFE.



She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth O. Whitney of Derry, four children, Maureen D. Haas and her husband Tom, Pamela J. Norton and her husband Mark, Colleen Whitney-Jarvis, Matthew A. Whitney, all of Derry, five grandchildren, Misty L. Gillis and her husband Walter of Londonderry, Matthew Doyle of Manchester, NH, Mallory L. Levandowski of Derry, Kenny Jarvis of Derry, Ryan Whitney of Goffstown and also by two great-grandchildren, Logan C. Gillis and Brady M. Gillis, both of Londonderry.

In celebration of her life, there was a gathering at 56 Fordway on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
