Obituary

WORCESTER: Robert J. Wedgwood, Sr., 78, of Worcester, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital, after a long illness.
He leaves a son, Robert J. Wedgewood, Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Susan M. Groccia of Oxford; 2 grandsons, David W. O’Brien of Worcester, Christopher J. Groccia of Thompson, CT; a niece and a nephew. A sister, Dorothy Listovich, and a brother, William Wedgwood, both predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Melville H. and Florence E. (Convery) Wedgwood. He graduated from Commerce High School, Central New England College and was a direct descendent of Josiah Wedgwood, one of the early settlers of the Colonies.
Bob was a truck driver with the Keebler Corporation until leaving work due to illness. He previously worked as a clerk at Norton Company for many years. He was a Neighborhood activist for the preservation of open space at Green Hill Park and a long time proud member of Teamsters Local No. 170.
CALLING HOURS are 4 to 7 P.M. on WEDNESDAY, JAN. 13, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a.m. on THURSDAY, JAN. 14, in ST. BERNARD’S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln St. After cremation, burial of ashes will be in Hope Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
