THOMPSON, George age 86 of Toms River, NJ formerly of Teaneck, NJ died Thursday January 7, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Agnes (2007) nee Yanchosek. Devoted father of George Jr. and wife Kathleen, Susan Tangel and husband Richard, Daniel and wife Patricia and Mary Ellen Sodano and husband Joseph. Cherished Grandfather of 10. Received a B.S. in Economics from the University of Florida. Retired from The Bergen County Probation office (1986). (Principle Probation Officer). Served with the U.S. Army in WWII as a radar operator stationed in Italy, France and Germany. One of 15 children survived by sister Mary Hanik. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday 1/13/10 at 10 a.m. from the Volk Leber Funeral Home 789 Teaneck Rd. Teaneck, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church Leonia, NJ. then onto Hackensack Cemetery Hackensack, NJ. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9.
