WORCESTER: Mary J. (O’Malley) Johnson, 82, of 123 Holden St., formerly of Paxton, died peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Life Care Center of Auburn. Her husband of nearly 22 years, Walter R. Johnson, Sr., died April 19, 1972.
She leaves a son, Walter R. Johnson, Jr. of Reddick, FL; a daughter, Donna M. Warner and her husband Stephen of Worcester; a sister, Ann M. O’Malley of Worcester; 2 brothers, Anthony C. O’Malley and his wife Mary of Boylston, Richard P. O’Malley and his wife Janet of Worcester; 2 grandchildren, Daniel E. Warner and his wife Ashley of West Boylston, Stephanie M. Warner and her fiancé Shawn Myotte of Worcester; a nephew, Timothy O’Malley; two nieces, Alice (Jacobs) Hart, Noreen (O’Malley) Deschene; a brother-in-law, Walter E. Jacobs of Paxton; an aunt, Nora Brennan of County Sligo, Ireland; and several great nieces and great nephews. Two sisters, Alice F. Jacobs and Kathleen J. “Kay” O’Malley, both predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Anthony C. and Kathleen J. (Brennan) O’Malley and was a graduate of North High School. She lived in Paxton for many years before returning to Worcester in the mid 1970’s.
Mary worked as a cashier at First National Supermarkets in the Worcester area for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. George’s Church, St. George’s Women’s Guild, and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.
CALLING HOURS are from 3 to 7 P.M. on SUNDAY, JAN. 10 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on MONDAY, JAN. 11 in ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH, 38 Brattle St., followed by burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
