Obituary

Henry Arruda, 86, of Westport died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 6, 2010. He was the husband of Irene (Mendes) Arruda, to whom he was married for 53 years.

Born in Fall River, son of the late John J. and Anna (White) Arruda, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. Mr. Arruda was a self employed dairy farmer. He was a founding member of the Westport Fair, a member of the Future Farmers of America and a former member of the Farm Bureau. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed traveling and watching the Bruins, the Jets and the Cowboys, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Including his wife, survivors include a son: Steven J. Arruda and his wife Patricia of Westport; 2 daughters: Nancy Ann Marshall of Dartmouth and Carol Ann Borges of Westport; a sister: Lillian E. Arel of Fall River; 5 grandchildren: Jacob & Matthew Marshall, Jeffrey Borges and Allison & Lauren Arruda; and several nieces.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.

Calling hours Friday 5 – 8 P.M.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
