New Bedford-Jose Tavares age 54 died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. Jose was the father of Shawn M. Tavares of FL. He was the brother of Angela Tavares of Taunton, MA. Mr. Tavares was the uncle of Jessica Oliveira and the nephew of Beatriz Cabral. Jose was the companion of Lillian Galego.
Mr. Tavares was the son of Margarida (Botelho) Tavares of New Bedford, and the late Manuel Tavares. He was born in St. Michael, Açores, Portugal and he lived in this area since 1968. Jose was employed as a Sprinkler installer at Rainbow Irrigation Co.
Mr. Tavares Funeral will be Friday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:30 A.M with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St John the Baptist Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hour is Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M.
