Obituary

STONINGTON- Geraldine (Tinker) Kelly, age 79, of 1 Center Dr., Latimer Pt., Stonington, died Wednesday at Mystic Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Elmyra, NY on April 6, 1924 the daughter of Franklin and Frances E. (Duke) Tinker.

A longtime former resident of New Britian, she was employed as a secretary for the former Fafner Union. While a resident there, she was a member of the South Congregational Church. Known for her beautiful singing voice, she was also a member of the New Britain Fife and Drum Corps.

She was married to Offcr. William J. Kelly of the New Britain Police Force in 1944. They were to have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this January. Mrs. Kelly served as the first President of the New Britain Police Union and had served as President of the CT Police Union.

While a resident of Stonington, she was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Mystic where she was a member of the choir.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kelly leaves a brother, John Tinker of New Britain and she will be greatly missed by her beloved nieces and nephews, Gerry, Bill, Jim, Laurie and their families as well as her special friend, Curtis Searles. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Tinker and a sister, Floris Dinda.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 5-7pm. A Service will be conducted at Union Baptist Church on Monday at 11am. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
