Irene Allen Wood, 78, of Sumner died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Ty Ty Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Duggan will officiate with burial to follow in Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 4, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Wood was born on March 18, 1931 in Sumner and was the daughter of Jessie Allen and Annie Lee Allen, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. She had lived in Sumner for 45 years.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, Noah Lee Wood of Sumner; two sons, Emory Wood of Hortense and Robert Wood of Claxton; two daughters, Robbie Dodd and Angela Yawn, both of Sumner; one step-daughter, Bennie Perry of Norman Park; one brother, Gene Allen of Tifton; four sisters, Carolyn Strickland of Tifton, Martha Jo Dillard of Tifton, Grace Cone of Tifton and Betty Daniel of Tifton; 14 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
