Barbara A. (McNeill) Amirault, 86 years, of Brockton, formerly of North Smithfield, RI, died January 1, 2010 at West Acres Nursing Home. Married for 31 years, she was predeceased by her husband James A. Amirault. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late John M. McNeill, a member of the Brockton Fire Department killed in the Strand Theatre Fire and Anna L. (Reilly) McNeill. Barbara was a 1941 graduate of Brockton High School and attended Burdett College. She lived in Lynn several years before relocating to N. Smithfield, RI, and in 2007 she returned to Brockton and resided at Emmanuel House. She was employed by Nabisco, working in the Brockton, Cambridge and later, North Smithfield offices before retiring after 43 years of clerical work. Barbara most enjoyed good food, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
She will be missed dearly by her brother John J. McNeill and his wife Mary, her sister Muriel E. and her husband Ulick John Burke, sister-in law Ruth McNeill, all of Brockton, and many nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Robert J. McNeill and Mary Louise Duggan.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 9:30-10:30am with a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
