Obituary

Robert Winship Jr, born in Westbrook, Maine on September 6, 1932. He is the son of the late Robert R. and Virginia (Coffin) Winship. Robert’s mother passed away at an early age on December 31st and he was raised by his grandmother Sadie Mayberry and Grandfather Ralph. He served proudly in the Marines from 1949 - 1952 with the 7th marine division during the Korean Conflict. He moved his family to Plymouth in 1968 to the former Eagle Hill Inn which had been deserted for years. There, he restored the property to its former glory. It has been a place of many happy memories on Great Herring Pond with an annual family party every 4th of July. He was the proud owner of Winship Construction and ran the successful contracting company for many years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy T. (Balliro) formerly of the North End of Boston, his children: Mark and Wife Carolyn of South Yarmouth, Kimberly and Husband Mark Rotunno of Cataumet, Robert, Lance and his wife Kimberly of Plymouth, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Marilyn of Gorham Maine. Visiting hours to be held at Richard Davis Funeral home, 619 State Road (3A) in Manomet on Monday January 4th from 4-8pm with a prayer service at 6. A graveside service to be held Tuesday, January 5th at 2 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett MA. Robert was a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
