TAUNTON – Christopher J. Frates, fiancé of Mary T. Wheeler of Whitman, died at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital on Jan. 1, 2010, following a four month battle with cancer.
He was 42.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of John M. Frates of Fairhaven and Sheryl D. (Petit) Woods of Taunton.
Raised and educated in New Bedford and Taunton, he later worked as a self-employed antiques dealer for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton.
An avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, Chris loved animals, and enjoyed having pets around the house.
Besides his fiancé and parents, he leaves his stepson, Michael Wheeler of Whitman; his stepfather, Robert Woods of Taunton; his stepmother, Geraldine Frates of Fairhaven; a brother Brian J. Frates of CA; a stepbrother, Robert Woods, Jr. of N. Dighton; three stepsisters, Kicia Furtado of Fairhaven, Kelly Thomas of New Bedford, and Cynthia Souza of Assonet; a very special niece, Emma Rose of Assonet; a nephew, Owen Frates of CA, and two uncles.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Jan. 5th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 4th from 5 to 8 p.m.
