Obituary

Franklin A. Joy a Salem, NH resident since 1913 died Sunday night at Parkland Medical Center in Derry after a brief illness, he was 91 years old.

He was born in Lawrence, MA and educated in Salem, NH graduating from Woodbury High School in 1930.

Mr. Joy retired from the New Hampshire Liquor Commission in 1972, he was the manager at the State Liquor Store in Salem, NH where he was employed from 1939 until his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Army serving as Sgt. in the 13th Airborne Division. He was a member and past Commander of the VFW Salem Memorial Post # 8546 in Salem a member of the Spicket Masonic Lodge # 85 in Salem, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Nashua, NH and the Bektash Shrine of Concord, NH.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Esther (Hennelly) Joy of Salem, NH

Several nieces & nephews to include Mary Lou Hajjar and her husband Steven of Salem

1 sister, Mary Stout of Florida

A calling hour will be Thursday from 6-7pm with a Masonic service at 7:00pm at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street in Salem, NH with cremation to follow.

A memorial service will be Friday at 3:00pm at Salemhaven Nursing Home Chapel 23 Geremonty Drive in Salem, NH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salemhaven Nursing Home Activities Department, 23 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH.
