Augusta, GA – Mrs. France Watkins Franklin, 89, beloved wife of the late Mr. David F. Franklin, passed away peacefully after a short period of time at Westwood Nursing Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Mark N. Van Alstine officiating. Interment will be private.
Survivors include her loving and devoted son L. Wayne and wife Dena T. Griffin of Martinez, GA; one brother Clifford Briant and wife Dorothy Watkins of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Mary Jane and husband Luigi Ferrante; three grandchildren, Lisa G. Williams of Augusta, GA, Chris W. Griffin of Hilton Head, SC, Derek W. and wife Margaret T. Griffin of Jacksonville, FL; five great grandchildren, Samantha Muller-Matthew of Augusta, GA, Sydney Griffin of Winder, GA Branden Griffin ,Miranda Griffin, Kylie Griffin all of Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her brother Mr. Joseph George Watkins and wife Pat, her sister Mrs.Madeline Wedemeyer and husband Doc.
A lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. Mrs. Franklin was a retired administrative assistant with Merry Brothers Brick Company. She a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, Augusta Junior Women’s Club, St. Joseph Woman’s Auxiliary, Past President of Augusta Opera Association, Augusta Genealogical Society, and Junior Achievement.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 3, 2009 from 6:15 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m.
