Obituary

James Ahto Jr. of Dedham, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away suddenly on December 31, 2009. He was 74 years old.

Born in Boston, Jim was a life-long parishioner of the Church of St. John of Damascus. He was very active in the parish, helping to plan and coordinate various events over the years. He was a member of the Nicholas G. Beram Veterans Association and a member of the American Arabic Benevolent Association. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and traveling to Florida with his wife Mary. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and he adored his 4 grandchildren.

Jim was the dear and devoted husband of Mary (Hamwey). Loving father of James Ahto III and his wife Susan of Raynham, Raymond Ahto of Mansfield, Richard Ahto of Mansfield, and Marlene Marcelonis and her husband James of Norwood. Cherished grandfather “Jido” of Steven and David Ahto and Jessica and Steven Marcelonis. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Jim's Funeral Service was held in the Church of St. John of Damascus Monday January 4, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to the Church.

Interment Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.
