Obituary

George O’Neill “Bud”, age 80, passed away at the Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth on December 30, 2009. Bud is survived by his wife of 53 years Beverly (Bussiere) O’Neill, his 2 children, Patricia Anne O’Neill of Methuen and David O’Neill and his wife Kimberley of Marshfield, his 2 grandchildren Meredith Lord and Connor Lord both of Salem, NH and his 2 sisters, Jeannette Kelley of American Fork, UT and Doris O’Neill of Queens, NY. George was born in Milton, grew up in East Weymouth and lived in Poughkeepsie, NY for 5 years before moving to South Weymouth for the last 47 years. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1947 and Northeastern University in 1955. Bud was a Technical Writer for IBM, Raytheon and GTE for many years before retiring in 1992. He served his country as an Electronics Technician in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Orphan’s Hope Lodge of Masons now the Weymouth United Lodge of Masons and was a Scout Master and Leader for Boy Scout Troop 8 in South Weymouth for 15 years. Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday January 5 from 4 to 7 P.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bud’s memory to the American Diabetes Association 330 Congress St. 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02110.
