Obituary

Retired Boston Firefighter William G. Feeney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Monday December 28, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was 67 years old.

Bill was born in Boston on September 1, 1942. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1960. Bill was appointed to The Boston Fire Department on December 30, 1970 and was assigned to Engine Company 9. On September 22, 1971 he transferred to Engine Company 22, on February 13, 1974 he transferred to Engine Company 50, on October 9, 1974 he transferred to Engine Company 37, on October 12, 1977 he transferred to Ladder Company 9, on January 18, 1978 he transferred back to Engine Company 37, on May 21, 1983 he transferred back to Engine Company 9, on August 2, 1986 he tranferred to Engine Company 4, on August 1, 1987 he was promoted to Aide to District Chief, on March 1, 1989 he transferred to Ladder Company 24 and on April 28, 1990 he transferred to Engine Company 5. Bill retired on September 30, 1998 after 28 years of dedicated service to The Boston Fire Department.

Bill is the beloved husband to Ann M. (Butler) Feeney. He is the devoted father of Sean Feeney, Kevin Feeney and his wife Lisa, Brian Feeney and Jaclyn Feeney. He is the loving grandfather of Connor and Cameron Feeney. He is the beloved son of Mary (McCreavan) Feeney and the late John Feeney. He is the devoted brother of Al Feeney, Mary Miele, Patty Feeney, James Feeney, Danny Feeney, Kathleen Boutwell and Michael Feeney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's Funeral on Saturday January 2, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours Thursday December 31, 2009 from 3 to 8 p.m.
