Martin W. YOUNG of Natick, formerly of Wellesley, died on Dec. 28, 2009 at the age of 95. “Marty” as most people called him, was born in Cambridge on Nov. 30, 1914. He was a graduate of the class of 1932 from Rindge Technical School, he fulfilled a post graduation course in Mathematics in 1933.
For over 10 years his late brother and father operated “The Fry Shop” in North Cambridge, on Mass. Ave. He was employed by Dewey & Almy Chemical Co. (W.R. Grace) for 13 years.
Martin was a Veteran of both World War II and Korea. He was a Sea-bee in WWII and had a combat star and commendation for South Pacific invasions. An inactive reservist, he was called to active duty in the Korean Conflict serving with the US Navy.
Martin was employed at the S&H Green Stamp Warehouse in Natick for 19 years retiring in 1975.
He married the now late Helen (Richardson) Young in 1948. He is survived by his son William M. Young and his wife Diane of Natick. Grandfather of Michael Medeiros and Steven and Stefanie Young. Great-grandfather of Cadence Medeiros. Brother of Madelene Young of Somerville.
A Memorial Service will be held in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (Rt 16) WELLESLEY on Sat. Jan. 2nd at 3PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation prior to the service from 2-3PM. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Martin’s memory to the animal shelter of your choice.
