Ivins, Utah…Marion I. (Ellis) Jones, 89, December 25, 2009 in Ivins, Utah. Marion passed away peacefully at her daughter's home early Christmas day and was once again re-united with those closest to her including her late husband, Arthur J. Jones, her parents: the late Daniel E. and Mildred (Gray) Ellis; her late sister, Norma Vaz and late granddaughter, Dawn Wheeler.
Born in New Bedford on June 14, 1920, Marion married Arthur on August 19, 1947 in Little Compton, RI and resided most of her life in Dartmouth. She was a member of Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church, the Tri-Delta group of the Congregational Church, American Humane Society, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW MA Post 9059 Ladies Auxiliary, and Mothers against Drunk Driving. Marion enjoyed gardening, reading and had been a columnist for the Dartmouth Chronicle and The New Bedford Standard Times.
She is survived by daughters: Martha Browne of Warner, NH, Marilyn White (aka Sweet Image) of Jefferson, NH , Lynn Alves of Ivins, Utah, and stepdaughter, Jackie Makowski of New Waterford, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to the American Humane Society or Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday evening 6-8 P.M.
A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 9:30A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
