Alfredo F. Jardim, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Monday, December 28. He was the husband of Antonieta (Teixeira) Jardim. Born and educated in Madeira, Portugal, he moved to Stoughton in 1956. Mr. Jardim was a custodian at Jones Elementary School in Stoughton for many years before retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching wrestling.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Jardim is survived by his children, Maria E. Mendonca and her husband Celestino and Arlindo T. Jardin all of Stoughton, as well as his grandson, Kevin and his great-grandsons, Jacob and Caleb. He was the brother of Bernard Fernandes, Antonio Fernandes and Maria Lucilia Coelho all of Stoughton and Teresa Bettencourt of CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 31 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
