Sidney Epstein of Revere and Malden died on December 27, 2009 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. He was 91. Sidney was the beloved husband of the late Sally B. (Covitz).
Sidney was born in Malden and attended the Malden schools and high school. He continued his education at the Franklin Pierce College, School of Pharmacy. Sidney was the retired owner of the Faulkner Pharmacy in Malden. Sidney was a World War Two Army Veteran and was a member of the Jewish War Veterans in Malden and the V.F.W. in Malden. He was a member of Temple B’Nai Israel of Beachmont in Revere and a member of the Massachusetts Pharmacy Association for many years.
Sidney was the devoted father of Warren Epstein and his wife Norma, Alan Epstein and his wife Carole, Dr. Joel Epstein and his wife Diane, and Paula Pernick and her husband Norm. He was the loving grandfather of Mathew, Dara, Rachel, Jaclyn, Danielle, Jessica, Sallie, Stephan, and Eric. Sidney is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq.) Chelsea on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 1:00 PM. Rabbi Mark Sokoll of Revere will officiate. Interment in Everett. Memorial observance at the home of Warren & Norma Epstein, Peabody, on Wednesday only. Contributions in Sidney’s memory may be made to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Avenue, Chelsea, MA 02150.
