Mary A. (Murphy) Williams, a resident of Melrose for the last 56 years, died on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a lengthy illness. She was 90 years old.
Mary was born in County Meath, Ireland, on August 21, 1919. She grew up in Woburn, where she attended Woburn Public Schools and graduated from Woburn High School in 1938. Mary worked as an auditor for Boston & Maine Railroad for more than 10 years. She was the Past President of Most Blessed Sacrament Church Women's Guild in Wakefield. Mary was a devoted homemaker who took care of her husband and 4 children.
Mary is the beloved and adored wife of 56 years to Andrew C. Williams. She is the devoted mother of Eileen Williams, Andrew Williams and his wife Marybeth, Stephen Williams and his wife Gail and Henry Williams all of Melrose. She is the loving Grammy to Brian, Molly and the late Danny Williams. She is the beloved sister of John Murphy, Eugene Murphy Jr., Theresa Garrity all of Woburn and Dorothy Dunn of North Reading.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Visiting hours on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m.
