Obituary

Dorothy G. "Sunshine" Fagnant 85, of Village Rd. died Christmas morning in the Friendly Home. She was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Tetreault) Lapierre. Dorothy was a welder for the Stackbin Corp in Lincoln for many years and also worked in Dietary Services in Landmark Hospital for twenty years, retiring in 1999. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and local talk radio contributor, Dottie's upbeat demeanor and infectious laugh were broadcast over the airwaves for many years. She dedicated her life to improving her community through her many volunteer positions and posts. Most notably she was founder and charter member of the Fine Arts Society(1965-1968), President of Social League Auxillary (1960-1962), President of the Greater Woonsocket Garden Club (1964), President of St. Joseph's CYO Adult Council (1962-1965), Telstars Drum and Bugle Corps (1967), Outstanding Civic Leader of America (1967), and was recipient of the CYO Woman of the Year Award in 1965. She is survived by two sons; Ronald Fagnant of Woonsocket, and Richard Fagnant of Foster, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, her niece Dorothy Roy and in-laws Dolorese and Julian ("Red") Joly, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Dennis Fagnant, and was a sister of the late; Albert Lapierre, Doris Cote, Beatrice Cote, and Pearl Hugenin.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visitation will be Monday 4-7PM.
