Obituary

Leo M. “Mike” Twohig, (Ret. Brockton Firefighter) 83 years, of Brockton died Saturday December 26, 2009 at the Guardian Center. He was the loving husband of Bertha L. (Southworth) Twohig for 53 years. He was born in Brockton, the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Ryan) Twohig. He had been a life long resident and was a graduate of Coyle High School, Taunton Class of 1944. Mr. Twohig served in the US Navy during both WW II and Korea. In 1953 he was appointed to the Brockton Fire Dept. and served for 32 years at Station 1 and the East Side Station 4. Mr. Twohig had been a horse trainer and equine dental technician for many years. He was also an avid golfer, who had worked at the Easton Country Club and also gave golf lessons. One of his favorite pass times was playing the lottery.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece Debra Rose of So. Easton and a nephew Charles “Chuck” Southworth, Jr. of Randolph, great nieces and nephews, Kenneth C. Southworth, Brian White and Jennifer White and a great great nephew Patrick White. He was the great uncle of the late Steven M. Southworth

A visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 10:30am to 12:30pm followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm.
