TEWKSBURY: Sharon J. (Burgess) Yost, age 57, a lifelong Tewksbury resident, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 22, 2009, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, following a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.
She was the beloved wife of George E. Yost, with whom she celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on November 4, 2009.
Born in Lowell on July 23, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Florence R. (Mills) Burgess and Philip A. "Tippy" Burgess and his wife Maxine C. Burgess of Port Charlotte, El Jobean, FL.
She was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970.
Following her marriage, Sharon dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed many activities including traveling, camping, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and antiquing.
Sharon was a compassionate animal lover and provided a home to numerous stray and orphaned pets.
In addition to her husband , father and step-mother, Sharon is survived by her children, Daniel W. Yost and his wife Kerrie of Tewksbury, Kerry L. McGahey and her husband Thomas of Wilmington, Timothy H. Yost and his fiance' Kerrie Lundgren of Tewksbury, Jamie P. Yost and his girlfriend Stephanie McDowell of Fairfield, CT and Ashley N. Yost and her boyfriend Jordan M. Frasca of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Timothy C. Yost, Avery S. Frasca, Jacob G. and Thomas J. McGahey and Stephanie L'Esperance; one sister, Carol Roberts and her husband William of Townsend; her brother-in-law, Martin Gardner of Pepperell; also many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was the sister of the late Donna Gardner.
Calling hours Monday, Dec. 28th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29th, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
