Obituary

Scott Walker, 79, of Douglas, died Thursday, December 24 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held 4 P.M. Saturday, December 26, in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, Georgia with Wendell Walker and Pastor Milton Pate officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Mr. Walker was born December 13, 1930 in Ben Hill County to the late Lewis N. and Lucille Patton Walker. He grew up in Fitzgerald, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1947. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and Liberty Baptist Seminary in Lynchburg, VA. He was a former resident of Bulloch County, Pembroke, Atlanta, Cordele and Macon. Mr. Walker served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was former owner/operator of several businesses throughout his life and was a personal evangelist for over ten years at the Atlanta Airport. Mr. Walker was a life-long member of the NRA and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Walker of Douglas; sons & daughters-in-law, Wendell & Patsy Walker of Lynchburg, VA and James Randall & Patty Walker of Darien; daughter & son-in-law, Deborah Lynne & Keith Pittman of Fort Worth, TX; 5 grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lewis Walker of Tifton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet Yvonne Beasley Walker.
