Mr. Joseph J. Accolla, age 92 of Medford died Wednesday in Massachusetts General Hospital Boston. He was the husband of the late Lena M. (Santoro) Accolla. Mr. Accolla was born in Boston, the son of the late Domenico and Giovanna (Strazzieri) Accolla. He grew up in Boston’s West End and later joined the U.S. Marines Corps. He served during WWII and fought during Guadalcanal. He worked as a Laborer, employed by the railroad. Mr. Accolla enjoyed traveling, particularly cruises. He had a keen sense of humor and loved playing card games with his grandchildren. As a former “West Ender” he rarely missed a summer North End Feast. He is survived by a daughter: Diane Anderson of AL, a son: Robert Accolla and his wife Jean of Medford. Brother of the late Peter, Charles & Frank Accolla, Annie Fazio & Millie Accolla. Friends may call Monday from 4 thru 8 at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, Tuesday at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
