Frank R. Van Buskirk, 72, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 19 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Mary E. (Corbett) Van Buskirk. Born and educated in Boston, he was a resident of Stoughton since 1974. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Van Buskirk was an iron worker with the Local 7 in Boston for over 40 years before retiring 5 years ago. He was a member of the National Rifle Assn., the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton, the Eliot-Hyde Park Masonic Lodge and the Braintree Rifle & Pistol Club. In his free time he enjoyed painting, gardening and his corvette.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Van Buskirk is survived by his sons, Ryan K. Van Buskirk of Stoughton and Glen Smith of Rockland. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Rowan Van Buskirk. He was the brother of Alice Hurley and her husband John of Canton and the late Neil Smith. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 24 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Burial will be private.
