James M. Vaughn, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, September 13, 2003, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert McDearmid and the Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating.. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Monday.
Mr. Vaughn was born May 30, 1924, in the Osierfield Community to the late Troy Moses Vaughn and Mamie McDaniel Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn had lived in Irwin and Ben Hill Counties most all of his life. He was a Farmer, an employee of Harper Motor Lines, and was retired from Delco-Remy Battery Plant. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Central European Theater. Mr. Vaughn was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by one daughter: Kathleen V. Hammond of Neptune Beach, Florida; one brother: Troy M. Vaughn, Jr. of Fitzgerald; four sisters: Kathryn Bowman and Mildred Hobby - both of Fitzgerald and Lucille Brooks and Annie Franczek - both of Jacksonville, Florida; and one granddaughter - Jennifer Shaw of Neptune Beach, Florida.
