Obituary

Thomas G. Evers, a 20 year resident of Melrose and former longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Friday December 18, 2009 at Quincy Medical Center in Quincy following a lengthy illness. He was 75 years old.

Tom was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force. Tom worked as an iron worker for many years and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local # 7. He was a business agent for the Iron Workers union for several years. He was the former President of Massachusetts Building and Trades, former Administrative Judge of D.I.A. (Industrial Accident Board), recipient of The Cushing & Gavin Award in Labor by the Archdiciose, member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association and Friend of "Bill W".

Tom is the beloved husband of Doris M. (Green) Evers. He is the devoted father of Thomas G. Evers and his wife Patricia of Melrose, Leonard T. Evers and his wife Laura of Natick, Daniel T. Evers and his wife Marybeth of North Carolina and William T. Evers and his wife Patricia of Braintree. He is the loving grandfather of Deidra, Peggy, Ryan, Patrick, Julie, David, Daniel, Julia, Ivy, Jessica, Michael and Katie. He is the beloved brother of James Evers of Quincy and the late Alice Corcoran, Evelyn Jones, Thelma Spinney, Maureen Wedge and Edward Evers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom's Funeral on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday December 22, 2009 from 3 to 8 p.m. Cremation will take place following his Funeral Mass.
