Sylvia Weiss (Swartz) of Chelsea and formerly of Florida died on December 17, 2009 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 92 years old.
Sylvia was born in Chelsea and attended the Chelsea schools and high school. She was a homemaker and described by her family as a very devoted mother.
Sylvia was the beloved former wife of the late Carl Weiss. She was the devoted mother of Mollie Abbott and her husband Carl, Frada Weinberg and her husband Frank, David Weiss, and Sheila Weisman and her husband the late Bernard Weisman. She was the dear sister of the late Ethel Sandberg, Mollie Levine, Joseph Swartz, and Sidney Swartz. Sylvia was the loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., (Cary Sq.) Chelsea on Monday, Dec. 21 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Everett. Memorial observance at the home of Laura Weiss of Marblehead on Monday following interment and all day Tuesday. Contributions in Sylvia’s memory may be made to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Avenue, Chelsea, MA 02150.
