Maria “Lucy” (Medeiros) Furtado, age 94, of Somerset & formerly Swansea, passed away Dec. 16, 2009. She was the widow of John Rapoza Furtado. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Margaret (Medeiros) Medeiros. Prior to retiring in 1977, Lucy worked as a Machine Operator for HARBRO Mfg. She was a parishioner of the former St. Michael Church, Swansea.
She is survived by her 3 children: John R. Furtado of Swansea; Donna Barber of Portsmouth, RI; & Dorothy Mercer of Tiverton, RI. 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. She was the mother of the late Richard J. Furtado & sister of the late Alfred Medeiros & Dorothy Steele.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. SATURAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Fall River at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours FRIDAY 4-8 P.M.
