James E. “Jim” Vincent, Jr., 86, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 20, at Dorminy Mill Baptist Church with Rev. Isaac Thomas officiating. The family will recieve friends at the church from 6 to 7 o'clock Sunday evening.
Mr. Vincent was born April 14, 1923 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late James E. and Grace Ott Vincent. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1981 from Madeira Beach, FL and was a former resident of Atlanta and Orlando. Mr. Vincent served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was retired division manager with Westinghouse, based in Atlanta and retired regional manager from Central States Insurance. Mr. Vincent was a member, deacon and former Sunday school teacher at Dorminy Mill Baptist Church.
Mr. Vincent is survived by his daughter, Valerie V. Smith of Cherry Log; son, James E. “Jimmy” Vincent, III of Fitzgerald; stepdaughter, Connie Ann & Roy Thomas of Maryville, TN; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Harp Vincent.
