Obituary

Ignatius L. Wilson. “Will”, “Angus McPherson” passed away on Saturday December 12, 2009 at the age of 89, born in Arichat, Nova Scotia, raised in Quincy, MA and lived in Weymouth, MA for many years. Will was predeceased by his beloved wife, Harriet F. Wilson. Lovingly survived by children Vivien Toland and husband Brian of Pembroke, Stanley Wilson and wife Karen of E. Falmouth, Marion Hayward and husband Richard of FL, Joan Cratty and husband Fred of Forestdale, Lorraine Akins and husband Stephen of Plympton, Daniel Wilson and wife Jane of SC, Brenda King and husband, Pat of SC, Paul Wilson and wife Kris of Norwell, and Cynthia Wilson of Abington. Cherished “Papa” to Pamela Steele, Paula Covelli, Michael Wilson, Keri Gillis, Mark Wilson, Christopher Hayward, Kimberly Hayward, Jeffrey Cratty, Paul Cratty, Suzanne Cratty, Philip Akins, Scott Akins, Timothy Akins, Kristin Sweeney, Daniel Wilson Jr., Ryan Cabral, Eric Cabral, Melissa Wilson, Nicole Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Casey Wilson, John Wilson, Josephine Wilson, Jake Frattalone, and Joseph Frattalone. Cherished great grandfather to 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Agnes Morin of Quincy and brother John Wilson of Hanover. Ignatius was a strong and generous person who did things “his way”. He was a wonderful and supportive grandfather to all his 25 grandchildren.
He worked on fishing boats in Boston Harbor as a young child and beyond, former welder at the old General Dynamics and Bethlehem Steel and inspector welder at the former Boston Naval Shipyard from which he retired. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He especially enjoyed taking care of his home until just a few years ago and loved to fish.
Funeral from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday December 21 at 9 A.M. Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Sunday 3 to 5 P.M. Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, MA 02190. If desired in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Abigail Adams Adult Day Center, 1283 Washington Street, Weymouth, MA 02189.
