TEWKSBURY - John K. "Johnny" Nocco, age 69, died unexpectedly Sunday night, December 13, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness. He was the long time companion of Susan Roberts of Tewksbury, and the husband of the late Virginia (Scott) Nocco, who died in 1998. He was born in Cambridge, December 12, 1940, a son of the late Charles Anthony and Elizabeth (Ferreira) Nocco. He was raised in Cambridge and Billerica, and had resided in Tewksbury since 1998.
He was an independent painting and general contractor.
He was a lifelong member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club. His passion for the last three decades has been the building of a rare '34 Ford, "three window coupe," from scratch which he had shown throughout New England. He held membership in the Stroker's Club, the American Hot Rod Association, and the National Hot Rod Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane Nocco of Lowell; his two beloved grandsons, Christopher Fazio of Lowell, and Michael Nocco of Tewksbury; step-mother, Delores Nocco-DeCarlo of Medford; step-sister, Linda McCarthy of Medford; several nieces and nephews, and was "Gampa" to Ryan, Cody and Josh, the sons of Stephanie and Shaun "Sugar" Sughrue of Tewksbury.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Dana Nocco; grandson Joseph "Baby Joe" Thorburne; and brothers George Nocco, Richard Nocco, and Robert "Buttons" Nocco.
His Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Dec. 19, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
