Obituary

Andre A. Gelinas, 88, of Manchester died December 13, 2009 at St. Teresa Manor after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on April 2, 1921, the son of Marius and Aline (Simard) Gelinas. He was educated in the local schools. In his late teens, he joined the 172nd Field Artillery National Guard which became part of the 1st Army and earned five battle stars during WWII.
Andre returned home in 1945 and received schooling in building construction. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Creative Construction Systems of Melrose, MA as superintendent of building schools, colleges, and churches.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion and the Association Canado-American.
In his life: Family members include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Cleveland) Gelinas of Manchester; sons, Donald Gelinas and wife Janice of Hooksett, Daniel Gelinas of Daytona Beach, FL; daughters, Denise Gelinas of Manchester, Diane Hogan and her husband Timothy of Goffstown, Doris Dionne and husband Marc of Bedford, Doreen Micali and husband Peter of Cumberland, RI; twenty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, December 17, 2009 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road.
