Dorothy S. Yancey, 80, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the South Georgia Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Edsel Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Yancey born October 16, 1929 in Albany, Georgia to the late George Washington Wiley and the late Mary M. Birdge Nichols. She lived in Fitzgerald for the past twenty years and was a former resident of Tifton, Nashville and Albany. Mrs. Yancey was former manager of J&L Oil Company in Tifton, a former supervisor for Davis Brothers Cafeteria, a former employee of the Grey Hound Bus Station and Tift Health Care. She attended Eastside Holiness Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar & Lois Yancey of Fitzgerald, Kenneth & Tammy Yancey of Nashville and Victor Yancey of Fitzgerald; daughters, Dorothy Louise Mock and Linda Gail Baldree, both of Nashville; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Yancey, son, Robert Yancey, an infant daughter, Priscilla Yancey, two brothers and three sisters.
