Obituary

Hosea T. “Fergie” Ferguson, 77, of New London, formerly of Hamden, passed away Sunday at Farmington Care Center.

He was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on August 8, 1932 the son of Tim and Mary L. Pumphrey Ferguson.

After receiving his education, he entered the US Navy where he served for 21 years before being honorably discharged . He later was employed in civil service at the US Sub Base in Groton and in Food Service for the State of Connecticut Dept. of Corrections before retiring.

He was a member of the Victory Lodge # 1096 IBPOEOW and a lifetime member of the National council for Negro Women.

He was married to Sandra M. Brown Goode- Ferguson on April 11, 2007. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jackie Young of North Dakota, Cynthia White of New London, Edward Goode Jr. of Oxnard, CA, and Candace Goode of New London; a sister, Onnie Pickett of Milwaukee, WI; several nieces. nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Willie Hicks and brothers, George and Andrew Ferguson.

His family will greet relatives and friends at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Blackhall Street, new London of Thursday from 5-7pm, followed by a service at 7pm. Burial with presentation of military honors will be on Friday at 10:30am at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic.
