Margeret "Peggy" (McCormick) O'Neill, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, and in recent years had been living in St. Pete Beach, Florida, died on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at her sister's home in Malden following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 69 years old.
Peggy was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1958. Peggy was a retired receptionist for the law firm of Ely & Bartlett, Brown & Proctor where she worked for several years. Peggy was a member of The Somerville City Club.
Peggy is the beloved wife of Eugene "Geno" O'Neill. She is the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Connolly) McCormick. She is the loving sister of James, Frank and Gerry McCormick, Annie Crilley, Mary Sheehan, Joan O'Brien, Janet LaPorte, Carole McCormick, the late Dorothy Duffy, Bobby, Paul, Donald, Arthur and Joseph McCormick. She is the loving aunt of several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Peggy's family extends a very special thank you to Dr. Yi Bin Chen at The Oncology Department in The Cox Building at Massachusetts General Hospital for his personal loving care to Peggy throughout her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peggy's Funeral on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m.
