Mrs. Edelmira Torres Martir, age 90, of Lowell, passed away on Saturday December 12, 2009 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the widow of Pedro Martir who passed in 1994.
She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico on November 7, 1919, daughter of the late Saturnino Torres and Rosalia (Gonzalez) Torres. She was raised in Puerto Rico, and has lived in Lowell since she became a widow.
She is survived by two sons William Martir of Lowell, and Marcos Martir of Puerto Rico; four daughters: Lidia Martir of Puerto Rico, Celida Martir of Lowell, Luz Martir of Lowell, and Ada M. Caraballo and her husband Angelo Caraballo of Lowell; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 54 great-great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was pre-deceased by several siblings.
Relatives & Friends are invited to her Visitation & Service on Mon. Dec. 14, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA 01854. Interment in Las Marias, Puerto Rico.
