Obituary

WORCESTER-George G. Fortin, 64, of Worcester died Wednesday, December 9th in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness. He leaves his sister, Gloria C. Marchetti and her husband, Carmen J. of Ellicott City, MD; nieces and nephews, Sarah Marchetti of New York, NY, Elizabeth and Michael Marchetti both of Ellicott City, MD whom he greatly loved; long time friend, Ray Blauvelt of Worcester; and many beloved cousins. His niece, Rebecca Marchetti, predeceased him.
He was born in Lowell, the son of Omer and Fleurette (Letendre) Fortin. Mr. Fortin was a teacher in the Diocese of Worcester for 42 years. He began teaching at Marian High School and retired from Holy Name Central Catholic Jr.- Sr. High School in 2009. Mr. Fortin headed the language department and taught Spanish and French. He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Assumption College and also studied in Paris. George loved to teach; his students were an extended family to him. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. George loved to travel and the arts.
The funeral is Monday, December 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, East Chelmsford. Calling hours are Sunday, December 13th from 2:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
